Wallflower Arts

Tales from Faraday Cottage.
Pictures of our creative endeavors into knitting, crochet, spinning, felting, needle felting, photography, painting, embroidery, jewellery making. Basically anything art/crafty we can get our hands on.

Shaw and glove commission for someone in the village who does tours in period dress.

Skeins of handspun drying on the line and a coffee cozy knitted with three colours of handspun.
The skeins are for Ruth’s Aran Jumper. It’s coming along nicely but slowly as I can’t spin constantly without causing a lot of pain. I’m spinning this raw and I think the worst part for me is combing out the raw fleece before spinning. It makes such a difference to how squishy and bouncy the finished yarn is though

Needle felted Scops owl. Life size so about 10cm tall. Needs some stuff done to it still. I haven’t got the eyes quite as I want them and I need to add polyclay claws to it’s toes. Also need to find a photo reference of a Scops owl’s tail.
I’m still messing about with this. I’m not totally happy with the colours and I need to sort something else out for the claws. I used cut pieces of pipe cleaner but they’re not attached properly. I should use glue I think and maybe some other kind of wire and clay claws.
I also haven’t taken proper photos of it yet, excuse the phone photo.

pookascrayon:

Another Brian Froud goblin for the bracelet.
These were loosely traced from a Froud Calendar, then handcolored and shrunk accordingly.

Three small monster embroideries.

I need to photograph these again when I have more light and I have them in hoops or frames.

These will more than likely be for sale at the local market or if I ever get around to putting up an etsy store.

The pirate monsters in the umbrella boat just happened. The umbrella was for something else that didn’t turn out and I thought it could do with some monsters to sail it.

The sprite has rainbow threads amongst the black ones. It’s not the best photograph of it.

The hairy monster was my first ever embroidery and I learned to leave room for the eyes rather than trying to create them on top of the other threads.
